I am super excited! A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about dialing back during a pandemic and the decision to put the bigger projects (re: staircase restoration project, master bedroom, and master bath) on hold while the world is literally falling apart around us. We decided to focus on the parlor instead. Then last week, I shifted priorities and instead of jumping headfirst into the parlor project, I decided to focus on a smaller, more achievable, room as my first project post-surgery. The last time we humans experienced a global pandemic of this scale was during the 1918 influenza pandemic often referred to as the Spanish Flu. The 1918 pandemic infected approximately one quarter of the worlds population of which 17+ million people lost their lives. [ 1,206 more word ]ourphillyrow.com/dialing-back-during-a-pandemic/

Dialing Back During a Pandemic – Our Philly Row
In light of this sudden and unplanned pandemic, we will be dialing back our plans for home improvement. But that doesn't mean we can't do smaller projects.5 years ago
It's time to talk about The Staircase Restoration Project! Woo Hoo! THIS IS A BIG DEAL! Last fall I posted Meet our Stairs, where I introduced you to our sad, but hopeful 167 year old staircase. It has lived through the Civil War, it survived the many families with children running up and down them, and it survived our house being a neglected rental for almost the entire twentieth century while the surrounding neighborhood went through a deep economic downward slide until gentrification came along beginning in the 90s.
